HOW LONG IS HIV TEST WINDOW PERIOD

The test uses simple continuous flow technology to detect HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies using a drop of human blood taken from the finger and placed on a stick. The test does not detect the virus itself. The result will be visible only if HIV antibodies are present. INSTI® HIV is simple to perform and will work properly only if you carefully read and follow the instructions. It is possible to have a reactive outcome with INSTI® HIV self-diagnosis in 21-22 days after infection 1, however, it can take up to 3 months for a reactive outcome. A negative result cannot be considered accurate until 3 months after infection. For support and any useful information on HIV including in relation to the use of the test and interpretation of the result, contact the AIDS/STI hotline 800861061, operating Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
